Adaptive Reuse of Historic Industrial BuildingsSaturday, May 3 Members Only – Free, but pre-registration required |

Portland is rich in historic industrial buildings. For our annual member appreciation event, Brad Malsin, President of Beam Development, will drill down into their preservation and adaptive reuse. His talk will address the challenges, opportunities, and relevancy to urban revitalization, and will focus on 3 to 4 completed historic projects in the Central Eastside Industrial District as well as others around and outside of Portland. Brad will outline his experiences and answer questions on how to best take advantage of the existing building and zoning codes and material components. He’ll also share insights on future opportunities.
Brad has extensive preservation experience in the commercial/industrial sector, including The Historic Fairmount Hotel, the Westfal Apartments, Harrison Court Apartments, Eastbank Commerce Center, and most recently the old B&O Warehouse– now Olympic Mill– which attendees will be invited to tour after the presentation. All of these properties have received or are pending admittance onto the National Historic Registry.
This is a special AHC members only program, however, pre-registration is required either here at our website or using the coupon in the newsletter.
