Dann Dunn

Dan Dunn A resident of Walla Walla, WA since third grade Dan has immersed himself in many pursuits before turning his attention to oil painting 10 years ago.  Restoring corvettes and classic cars was an early passion.  Next he began researching and collecting antique clocks, furniture and oriental rugs.  In the late ‘80’s Dan found the perfect home for his collections when purchasing a 1917 Federal Revival home.  Thus began a passionate restoration adventure fitting for this boyhood home of Adam West of the 1960’s TV show, Batman.  However, no batcave exists on the premises!

A new collection interest began when Dan spied a postcard in an antique shop in Newburg, OR.  Ever curious he had to know who had created it and Eliza Barchus, a turn of the century female artist from Portland, Oregon captured Dan’s interest and a new passion grew.

His curiosity around how Barchus painted led Dan to begin art lessons with a local Walla Walla artist, Mollie Fenton.  Later he studied floral techniques with Gary and Kathwren Jenkins and seascapes with Lyn Lasneski.  This artistic interest nicely balances Dan’s career as an Engineering Test Manager at Nelson Irrigation Corporation in Walla Walla where he has been employed since the mid-70’s.

Early paintings were shared with family and friends.  Recently several shows have been in Portland restaurants and coffee houses and in Walla Walla wineries.

Dan paints for the enjoyment and the challenge of trying to capture a small piece of nature on canvas.
