With the renovation of the historic West’s Block and the opening of the Architectural Heritage Center in 2005, the first part of BMF Founders Jerry Bosco and Ben Milligan’s vision of “creating a place to learn” about the art and the craft of buildings has been accomplished.
With the opening of the Center’s doors, it has become possible for the public to access the extensive collections and the store of knowledge that have been packed away for so long. We now move forward to focus our efforts on “teaching people” about the value of old buildings to our community and the resources available to restore and maintain them.
To help accomplish this, the Bosco-Milligan Foundation has established the Genesis Society to support the operations and sustained growth of the Architectural Heritage Center.
For a minimum annual contribution of $1,000 you can become a member of the Genesis Society. Benefits include:
- Free annual admission to the AHC
- Free admission to all education programs
- Invitations to all special events
- Pride in the knowledge you are a significant supporter of historical preservation in our
- community.
Honored with a prestigious “National Preservation Award” by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2005, The Architectural Heritage Center is now fulfilling its potential as a one-of-a-kind community resource center and an un-equaled showcase for historic preservation.
Through the generous support of our Genesis Society members, the Center will continue to grow and increase its ability to provide inspiration & resources to the community:
- Lecture programs, neighborhood history tours, and hands-on classes in traditional building crafts;
- Exhibits that showcase the Foundation’s extraordinary (and growing) collection of architectural artifacts;
- Public access to a library of rare architectural books, drawings, and plans, including the collections of architects Richard Ritz and George McMath;
- Serve as a catalyst for architectural preservation in our community through new & established programs for all ages, including the 2008 launch of a new community technical assistance program.
