The Molalla Log House

Possibly the state’s oldest structure, may hold a secret, which would rewrite the first chapter of Oregon’s pioneering history.

Project managers Gregg Olson and Pam Hayden have worked six years to unravel some of the mysteries of the Molalla Log House. The building is the primary resource of study. Clues from the building have led to a startling theory about its origins. It is possible that Russian Americans were the first to build in Oregon. Join them on the 18th learn more about this small, unique and expertly crafted log house.

Rehabilitation of the log house is nearly complete. Learn about preservation efforts what is needed for the future of what may be Oregon’s oldest house.

This intriguing project has been supported primarily by the Kinsman Foundation. The National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Clackamas County Cultural Coalition have provided funding. The Molalla Area Historical Society and Restore Oregon have served as project fiscal sponsors.
