REMEDIES FOR WEARY WALLS:
PLASTER REPAIR AND DECORATIVE PAINTING

Saturday, May 4, 2002 - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Piedmont Neighborhood, Home of Jennifer Siebold

Foundation Members Only:  $18.00

The tendency of houses to settle over time - not to mention the occasional earthquake - sometimes leaves our Pacific Northwest homes with cracks in their plaster.  Repair of failing plaster is very often possible, and is the most historically-appropriate approach to solving the problem.  After plaster repair, the next step is painting - and creative options are plentiful.

Join other members of the Foundation on Saturday, May 4 for a program on interior plaster repair and decorative wall painting.  Second-generation plaster craftsman Wayne Thompson, who has owned his own business since 1973, will demonstrate plaster repair techniques and plaster casting.  He will draw on his skill and expertise at devising solutions to a wide variety of plaster problems in different environments to answer questions about your specific plaster quandaries.  Artisan Regina Ciarfella of Hood River will discuss the history of and demonstrate decorative finishes for walls, such as stenciling and Tiffany painting.  She will cover a variety of decorative techniques, how to re-create historic finishes with contemporary products, and how to work with a contractor. The program will take place in a private home in the Piedmont neighborhood. This is a Foundation members-only program.  Capacity is limited and pre-registration is required, so mail in your registration now!
